Staying at the Inn
The Settlers Arms In has been host to thousands of travellers over the last 188 years. Early pioneers heading to Newcastle or the Hunter Valley on foot or by stagecoach stayed the night with up to six to a bed (but no boots allowed). There were rooms above the Inn for sleeping with breakfast available downstairs for those who could afford it.
Although the Inn catered for many different types of people, tinkers were only permitted to bed down in the laundry and for one night only.
These days, there are four double rooms (each with its own ensuite) in a separate building in the grounds of the Inn. The rooms would be an ideal hideaway for exploring the Macdonald River valley and enjoying the delights of a country pub for a relaxing weekend.
Each of these rooms can be booked at $150/night by ringing the Inn during business hours Wednesday to Sunday.
